Robert Dawson Mitchell Sr., age 75, of Semmes, Alabama passed away on Friday May 25, 2018. Robert was born January 23, 1943 in Mobile, Alabama to Bobbie Lee Hayles Mitchell and Otway Dawson "O.D." Mitchell. Robert was a member of the Local 653 Operating Engineers, working throughout the country on the pipeline, and build and trade. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisher. Robert loved his family, friends, and dogs. He had a great work ethic and sense of humor.
Robert is survived by his special friend, Cindy Zan; his son, Robert (Rhonda) Mitchell, Jr.; daughter, Natalie (Forrest) Amacker; two sisters, Judy Jordan and Debbie West; three grandchildren, Dawson Mitchell, Tyler Amacker, and Danielle Robon.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Otway Dawson "O.D." Mitchell and Bobbie Lee Hayles Mitchell.
A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, Alabama 36571. A graveside service will occur Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery, 1202 Virginia St, Mobile, Alabama 36604. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Jack Smith will officiate.
