Robert Armstead “Sonny” Simmons, Jr. – a 55 year-old native of Mobile and resident of Eight Mile passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011. Mr. Simmons was a past member of the Mobile Jaycees and loved horses and scuba diving. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. “Bobby” Simmons. Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bekki Simmons; sons, Robert Simmons (Roxy) and Russell Simmons (Lori); mother, Bettie Simmons; grandson, Hunter Simmons; brother, David Simmons (Chandra); sisters, Beulah Callaway (Donnie), Gail Kelley (Ronnie), and Donna Stone (Clay); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until the service hour.
