Ruby Inez Greene Bryant, age 89, of Mobile, Alabama passed away on Monday April 8, 2019. Inez was born April 8, 1930 in Vanita, Oklahoma to Rubye Criswell Greene and John Greene. Outside of her amazing roles of wife, mom, sister, daughter and friend, Inez had three significant areas of life contributions. She was a Christian and her faith in Jesus Christ was most important. She was church organist at Shadowlawn Baptist Church for over 20 years. Her involvement at Springhill Baptist Church included many committees and areas of service. Secondly, Inez served as office manager for Surgeons of Mobile for over 40 years, loving on people daily and helping many face the challenges of difficult heath needs. Lastly, Inez was a leader in her community. As past president of the College Woods Civic Club, she was sometimes affectionately referred to as “The Mayor of College Woods”.
Inez is survived by her husband of 69 years, H. Grady Bryant, Jr.; sons, David Grady (Connie) Bryant and Kevin Patrick (Lynn) Bryant; "the other brother" David Greene; brothers, James David Greene and Emory Paul Greene; grandchildren, Stephanie (Steven) Wisdom, Melanie (Ryan) Chan, Courtney (Andrew) Rossell, Lindsey Bryant, Mary Shelton (Patrick) Wells, Patrick (Kat) Bryant, John (Caroline) Bryant, and Hayden Bryant; great-grandchildren, Bryant Wisdom, Tenley Wisdom, Locklan Wisdom, Serena Chan, R.J. Chan, Lucy Chan, Hallie Grace Wells, and Patten Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Inez was preceded in death by her father, John Greene; mother, Rubye Criswell Greene; step-mother, Cora Estelle Greene; sister, Ida Bell Richardson; and brother, John Greene.
A private graveside service for Inez will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 State Highway 225, Spanish Fort, Alabama 36527. A visitation will occur Friday, April 12, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Spring Hill Baptist Church, 2 S McGregor Ave, Mobile, Alabama 36608, followed by a celebration of life at 2:30 p.m.
