Russell Walker

Russell was born March 22, 1940 in Montgomery, AL to the late Woodrow and Jodie Mae Walker. In 1955, Russell met Estelle Webb. They married in 1957 and shared 68 beautiful years together. He set a tremendous example of faith, love and strength of character, and was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.

Russell was a member of Shelton Beach Road Baptist Church since 1965 and was very active in his congregation. Russell loved the Lord and never met a stranger. He was very generous and giving and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was always humming and singing.

Russell is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Estelle Walker, daughters; Cyndi (Randy) Bumpers, Dannah (Kevin) Chalupka, son; Russell (Cheryl) Walker, sister; Winnie (Paul) Bush, 5 grandchildren, Matt (Shannon) Bumpers, Ginny (Greg) Duncan, Anthony (Whitney) Walker, Russell Lee Walker, and Christine Chalupka, 6 great grandchildren; Nathan Hutto, Landon Duncan, Bently Walker, Amberleigh Walker, Reina Walker, and Malayia Walker, two great great grandchildren: Maggie Hutto and Peyton Hutto, and many nieces, nephews, great, and great great nieces and nephews.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents; Woodrow and Jodie Mae Walker, three sisters; Julia (Johnny) Walker Seabury, Helen (Buddy) Walker Lewis, Emily (Benny) Walker Faile, and brother; Rufus (Earlene) Walker.

Russell cherished spending time with his large family. He was a man of deep faith, humor and generosity who offered wisdom without judgment, and love without condition. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11am on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Shelton Beach Road Baptist Church- 401 Shelton Beach Road in Saraland. Pastor Gary Shockley will be officiating the services. There will be a graveside service following the visitation at 11:30am at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Saraland.
