
McCONNELL Sarah Louise Garrett McConnell, 88, beloved mother and grandmother, slipped into the presence of her savior and lord, Jesus Christ, on February 14, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father, Flemon Garrett; her mother, Mattie Garrett and 6 siblings. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin S. (Buddy) McConnell; her eldest son, Melvin F. McConnell and her daughter, Becky McConnell. She is survived by two sons, Eric (Judy) McConnell of Alabaster, Al and Mark (Debbie) McConnell of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren Julie Simpson, Katie Culhane, Kendall Dickerson, Kelsey McConnell, Kelly Quinn, Emily McConnell, Joshua McConnell, and six great grandchildren. Louise is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Derian Rowell and Oberon McConnell, and a daughter-in-law, Glenda McConnell. Louise was born on August 4, 1923, and was raised in the Castleberry and Bay Minette areas. She was a graduate of Murphy High School. She was married to Buddy for over 49 years. She cherished Buddy and treated him like a king, and was devoted to her family. She loved and nurtured the family, often rising well before day-light and laboring late into the night to assure the family was cared for. Louise was gifted in her ability to stretch a dollar and well managed the family's limited budget. She was resourceful around the house, and once helped Buddy finish the interior of their Lake Martin home. She was an accomplished seamstress, and over the years made many beautiful dresses. She was a partner in a seamstress business in Dadeville, AL. Her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and God the father of Abaham and Isaac was lived throughout her life as she maintained her hope and trust in God through the storms that came into her life. Her faith and perseverance were an inspiration to her children. She lived her final years in Saraland near Becky who she lovingly supported throughout her life. Louise was in poor health in her latter years. For several of these years she was sweetly cared for by Oberon McConnell. Louise would tell you that her life was blessed by the Lord. She was a blessing to many. Her life was often difficult, but she kept the faith, and is now at rest in the arms of Christ. Visitation at 9:00 AM and funeral service at 10:00 AM will be at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Thursday, February 16, 2012.
