Shonna Jo Bowers

Shonna Jo Tuttle Bowers – a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who completed her journey to the Lord on Friday, August 19, 2016. A native of Muncie, IN and resident of Saraland, AL, she graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1967 and attended Indiana Business College. She worked for the Mobile Transit Authority for many years and retired from Mobile Community Action in 2014. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She volunteered as a race official with the Port City Pacers and Azalea Trail Races for many years. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, friends, and her fur baby (Indy). Her wisdom, guidance, encouragement and kind words will resonate and uphold all who have been touched by her life.

Mrs. Bowers was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mary Ellen Tuttle; grandmother, Mildred Homerick; and half-brother, Scott Tuttle. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, J. Bill Bowers; her daughters, Leigh Anne Nettles and Cindy Ellen Morgan (Vince); 5 grandchildren, Kristin Morgan Lester (Thomas), Matthew Morgan, Chase Nettles, Kyler Nettles, and Colin Nettles; her brother, Garry Tuttle; Aunt Mary Edith and Uncle Ernie Swoveland; her half-brothers, Bruce Tuttle (Coco) and Paul Tuttle as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Friday, August 26, 2016, from 11:30 a.m. t0 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at the Alabama State Veteran’s Cemetery in Spanish Fort at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
