Wanda Suzette Childress

Wanda Suzzette Childress, 67, born November 24, 1955, in Evergreen, AL., passed away surrounded by family on September 5, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Clayton & Carol Cobb.“Sue” as we all knew her, surrendered her life to our Lord and savior on April 18, 2023.

She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt and best friend. Sue loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was a passionate cook, animal lover, generous to a fault and treasured her time outdoors with family.

Sue awaits in heaven for her husband of nearly 51 years, John S. Childress Jr., daughter, Cynthia Childress, two sons, John S. Childress III (Shannon), Justin Childress (Jessica); two grandchildren, Jeremy Smith (Breannu), Shawna Smith (Harper); two great-grandchildren, Cecil Smith and Cyrus Smith; sister, Colleen Childress (Steve), two brothers, Clayton A. Cobb Jr. (Gail), Richard Cobb (Norma); and lots of nieces and nephews.

Sue was preceded in death by her father, Clayton A. Cobb Sr., mother, Carol A. Cobb, brother, William Cobb, sister-in-law, Shirley Cobb, nephew, Kyle Cobb.

Her celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, Alabama. The family will receive visitors from 9-11 AM. Service begins at 11 AM. Graveside will be at Clayton A. Cobb, Sr. Family Cemetery in Brooklyn, Alabama at 2 PM.
