William Charles Erdmann Jr., 65, of Chunchula, Alabama, passed away on December 27, 2025, doing what he loved most—at his favorite place, in his favorite stand. Born in Mobile on August 25, 1960, Charlie lived a life rooted in hard work, quiet strength, and deep devotion to family.
Raised in Satsuma, Alabama, Charlie attended the Satsuma school system and carried the values of his upbringing throughout his life. He spent more than 30 years in construction management, earning the respect of those who worked beside him through his toughness, reliability, and unwavering work ethic.
Charlie was married to the love of his life, Dawn Barker Erdmann, for 42 years. Together they built a family grounded in loyalty, laughter, and resilience. His greatest passions were fishing, hunting, and above all, his grandchildren—who brought him immense pride and joy.
Those who knew Charlie knew him as tough, strong, stoic, and quietly funny. He was a man of few words but deep presence, steady in who he was and generous in ways that mattered. Each Christmas, he faithfully donated to the ASPCA.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Higgins Brooks, William Erdmann Sr., and Wesley Brooks; and his brothers Mike Erdmann, Dennis Erdmann, and Philip Erdmann.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Dawn Barker Erdmann; his children, Angela Macon and Joshua Erdmann; his siblings Janet Erdmann Easterling, Billy Erdmann, and Eddie Erdmann; his grandchildren Jeremiah Buenrostro, Anna Macon, Allie Erdmann, and Charlee Rose Erdmann; his great-grandson Adrian Simpson; and his beloved dog, Bailey.
A visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home, located at 1200 Industrial Parkway, Saraland, Alabama, on January 2, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm.
