Even is this year of the pandemic, when so many friends succumbed to this terrible disease the loss of Alan is a terrible addition to the pain we all feel.
Alan, one of the sweetest, kindest and gentle souls I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet .  kind and sensitive, a true mensch who always took the time to ask about your family.

Dear Nancy and Family,
Jeanne and I were so saddened to hear about Alan's passing.  When we got the news today such warm memories of Alan surfaced.  Sharing the UCONN years was a privilege.  He may not have even known it,  but his influence on me was so positive.  It was a pleasure to catch up with both of you at the AZO reunions at Mohegan Sun and Naples.   Alan will always be remembered affectionately.

Bob and I were so saddened to hear the news about Alan.  We feel so lucky he reached out to us after so many years to celebrate Nancy's 70th birthday.   That turned into a weekend reunion in Long Boat Key which we will treasure the memory forever.  We love you both and your dear family.  Karen and our son were babies together.  We were blessed.  me to tell me the news. So many memories of our days in 
Storrs, especially sharing a twin bed with Alan(aka Milbs)  
while living in a cottage on Coventry Lake during summer

sharing a bed although this time in a double.

I am so sorry to hear that Alan has passed away. Alan and I worked closely together from 1990, when I joined the ICI Legal Department, until his retirement from AstraZeneca.  He was a wonderful man. A teacher, a mentor, and a
counselor. He truly cared about people, and always made time for me, whether it was to discuss business, government, or personal matters. He was a man of faith and integrity. He carried that with him every day. If I had to describe him in one word, I would say he was a wonderful mensch. He certainly made the world a better place. May all your memories be happy ones. I worked for Alan in Public Affairs (in C&AR) at AstraZeneca in the late 1990s. He was a kind and decent man. May he rest in peace. And may fond memories sustain and comfort his family and friends during this difficult time.

Like it was yesterday, I can picture meeting Alan in London, New York City and Wilmington. First, we'd talk about the AstraZeneca public relations business I was doing with his team. And then we'd cover every other subject under the sun.  He loved life and music and travel and culture, but most of all his family.   May Alan's memory be for a blessing.  Jeremy and I send our condolences to his beloved family.

Truly saddened to hear about the passing of a friend and colleague.  I worked closely with Alan and his regulatory for over 20 years where he provided expertise, guidance and personal direction.  He always had time to talk about pharmaceutical issues and how those issues impacted on the positive direction of AZ or its predecessor companies.  

His impact on our industry will certainly be missed.

My sincerest condolences to Alan's family.  I first met Alan went I joined the Pharmaceuticals group in 1988 when he was the head of planning.  Alan was a genuine  and intellectual person who treated everyone with respect and dignity. Working with Alan on the many projects and Business Team, I also found his integrity to be beyond reproach. If you look up mensch in the dictionary there should be a photo of Alan. I can't imagine someone more deserving of the title. He was instramental in me joining Zeneca (later AstraZeneca) and remained a trusted mentor until he retired and even afterwards. I remember fondly an afternoon of free time on a business trip in Spain when I was headed off to do some exploring and Alan was going to do the same. We ended up heading out together, poking around art galleries, cafes and cobbled streets talking about family -- I had left a baby at home for the trip and I believe Alan had a new grandbaby he was bubbling over about. As I remember that day as I hear the news of his passing, his warmth and spirit still fills me and the way he approached his life and work still serves as an example to me. To his family -- thank you for sharing Alan with so many of us. May your memories help sustain you.

Alan was one of the best people I have ever crossed paths with, and I feel fortunate that I had a chance to work with him for many years. He always led with integrity and with his personal values. You always knew he saw you as a person first, a colleague second. We shared many interests, like travel and Big East basketball. But any conversation that was not about work (and even some that were), always circled back to stories about family. Sending love to Nancy and the entire Milbauer family.

What can we possibly say that hasn’t already been said and that you don’t already know about Alan. I have looked up to him my entire life! He was such a unique husband, father, brother, and man that possessed so many amazing traits I can’t even begin to name them all, but I’m going to try. He was kind, compassionate, empathetic, sincere, thoughtful, dependable, smart, ambitious, charming, personable, supportive, classy, optimistic, dedicated, respectful, honorable, considerate, selfless, patient, loyal, faithful, encouraging, sincere, wise, authentic, courageous, beloved, and a true mensch…and so much more!

These qualities have had such a huge and positive impact on his family and friends! So much so, he has inspired me to instill those very same qualities throughout the rest of my life so they may benefit not only my family and friends, but even strangers as well! For we sorely need more people like Alan to help make this world a much kinder and more loving place to live! And I will do my very, very best to do just that…and to honor him by following in the giant footsteps he has left behind!!!

The world is a better place for having Alan in it. As a secretary from back in the day when AZ was known by many other names, I worked with Alan a few times when he interacted with the folks that I supported. The thing that always struck me about Alan was no matter how far up the ladder he went, he was just still Alan and he treated everyone with respect. He somehow remembered my name many years later and when he passed you in the hallway he would greet you by name and stop and say hello. What a truly lovely man he was in so many ways and a brilliant attorney.  I lost my sister this week on January 18, he probably knew her (Carmella Wright), because she worked in Human Resources with Coates Bateman. I know exactly how those of you in his family are feeling right now.  My deepest condolences to your  entire family, and to Alan start spreading your goodness around heaven my friend.
