Born on Maryland’s eastern shore, Bea came to Florida in the early 60s to pursue a career in Radiology. She worked at Manatee Memorial Hospital where she met her future husband, an Anesthesiologist. She subsequently lived in Montreal, Canada, and Gainesville, Florida before moving back to the Bradenton/Sarasota area about 20 years ago.
She was the daughter of Vernal John and Martha Hartman of Pocomoke, Maryland. She was a mother, grandmother, realtor, and proud author of two books, “Florida’s Treasures” and “Florida’s National Historic Landmarks.” She had a profound love of family, friends, adventure (i.e. roller coasters, white water rafting, parasailing, and hot air ballooning), as well as travel (international and domestic), and her beloved Chow-Chow dogs (Baron, Sunshine and Jewels).
She earned her bachelor’s degree in history at the University of Florida while raising her two young daughters and taught them the value of higher education by example. She worked in real estate for many years and then returned to school in the 1990s to earn a master’s degree from the College of Architecture in Urban and Regional Planning.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister (Christine Lednum) and her brother (John Hartman), and is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, (Jenny and Norm Bolduc, and Kathy dePadua-Thiele and Mark Thiele), and two beloved grandchildren, (Ryan and Jamie Bolduc), as well as two siblings, Vivian Bozman and Eugene Hartman, and a favorite cousin, Cecil Schrock, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Our gratitude goes to the staff at Grand Living in Lakewood Ranch and her Tidewell-Empath private caregivers and hospice nurses for the loving care they took of her over this last year.
A Visitation for Bea will be held Monday, January 20, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232 with the funeral following at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Palms Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
