Charles Lee Rockwell passed away peacefully September 21, 2019. He was born on April 22, 1937 in Columbus Ohio to Lee and Marcella Rockwell. Charles had two siblings, Carol and David. He was a 1955 graduate of Columbus North High School. Charles contracted polio in his childhood and battled it courageously throughout his lifetime. An avid baseball fan, Charles coached baseball for the D & D Grill and Berry’s Sporting Goods teams of the Heart of Ohio League. He then continued coaching at Columbus Beechcroft and Dublin Scioto before moving down to Sarasota Florida. Charles married Helen Burkey and enjoyed over 60 years of marriage. He had two sons, (Scott and Jeff), two daughter in-laws (Crystal and Aparna), and four grandchildren (Connor, Aneesha, Amara, and Chloe). Along with baseball, Charles enjoyed interacting with his neighbors, landscaping, going on drives with his wife, and the sunshine.
Friends will be welcomed on Saturday September 28th for an open house style celebration of his life from 2-5 pm at his son’s home (647 Meadows Dr. Delaware Ohio).
