
Jeanette Walkup Haase passed away at The Fountains of Hope ALF in Sarasota on January 7, 2026, at the age of 92. She was born Jeanette Eyster on September 28, 1933, in the small farming community of Metz, Indiana. Following graduation, she married and later moved to Sarasota in 1959.
Jeanette was active in the Jr. Women’s Club and worked for many years as a commercial teller at National Bank. She was a founding member of Beneva Christian Church. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and generosity; she touched countless lives throughout her journey.
Jeanette married Richard J. “Dick” Haase in 1996. Truly the love of her life, she and Dick were blessed to enjoy many retirement years travelling and spending time with friends and loved ones.
She is survived by her son Robert (Charlotte) Walkup, daughter Tena (Tom Jr.) Wilson, granddaughter Melissa Walkup, grandson Coby Wilson, great-grandsons Travis (Kegan) Masi and Alex Masi, great-granddaughter Halle Bingham, great-great-grandsons Carter and Oliver Masi, and great-great- granddaughter Jovanna Masi. In addition, stepsons Richard J. Haase, Jr., and James Haase, stepdaughter Christine “Tina” (Donald) White, and stepson Peter Haase; step-grandson Donald (Christine) White, Jr., step-granddaughter Theresa (Chris) Hoegstrom, step-grandsons Tyler (Jessica) White, and Andrew (Morgan) Haase, and step-granddaughter Caitlynn Haase; step-great-grandchildren Mia White, Ben White, Austin Hoegstrom, Alina Hoegstrom, and Archer White. Extended family also includes several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Haase, her parents, four sisters, and her granddaughter, Jennifer Bingham.
A Celebration of Life service honoring Jeanette will be held on Saturday, January 17th, at 2:00 p.m., at Beneva Christian Church in Sarasota, FL. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and share in remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Tidewell Hospice or The Fountain of Hope ALF – Memory Care Unit.
Jeanette will forever remain in our hearts. Her legacy of love, compassion, and joy will live on in the many lives she touched.
