

Dave was born on December 19, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Edward Olszewski and Helen Becio Olszewski.
He served honorably as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
A faithful Christian, Dave will be remembered for his cheerful attitude, generosity, love of planning parties and events that brought people together, and his lifelong passion for the Chicago Cubs. Additionally, Dave was a poet and the founder of the locally famous Papa Dave Invitational Golf Tournament.
He is survived by his wife Donna Busby; his stepchildren Todd Roberts (Emily), Brooke Moll (Randy), and Edward Kozina (Sarah); his son David Jr. (Cheryl); his sister Laura Eckel (Ed); his grandchildren Veronica Karcher (William), Charles Moll, Genevieve Moll, Christian Moll, Walker Roberts, Lott Roberts, Lucy Kozina, and Edward Kozina III (waiting to be born); and great-grandson Henry Karcher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Mathew, brother Edward, sister Sarah White, and her husband Art.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 600 W 45th St, Chicago, IL 60609.
Internment will be at 1pm on July 2, 2026, at Lakeview Cemetery, 906 N Lakeshore Dr, Ludington, MI 49431
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a veterans’ organization.
