He was Vice President of Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp. and also worked for Raytheon CO. as an Electronics Engineer. Derek’s contributions included over 10 international patents enabling advancements in electric cars and CAT scanners. He was a musician that enjoyed playing the saxophone and clarinet during the Big Band Era. He was a member of the Sarasota Jazz Club and the Suncoast British Car Club.
Derek is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Iris; his loving sons, Howard Chambers (Lisa) of Sarasota, FL and Andrew Chambers of Glen Cove, NY and cherished grandchildren, Laura, Juliana, Alex and Ian. He is preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Chambers.
A Visitation will be held on Tue. Oct. 3, 2017 from 5 PM until 7 PM and Wed. Oct. 4, 2017 from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM in the Legacy Chapel at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL 34232.
