So sad to hear of Doris’ passing. I first met lovely kind Doris at Matt and Ela’s wedding celebrations in Chicago in 2012. She had just flown in from Niagara and I from England. We had a lot to catch up on! My basic school level german wasn’t much help so we stuck to English and got to know each other. Dave and I were very grateful to have visited Doris only a few weeks ago and to have been able to have a conversation with her. We will so miss not being able to see her again on our next visit to the USA. RIP beautiful Doris. With much love from  Val Hoy

We were next neighbors of Doris and her family on Richmond Ave back in the early 90s. Remember her and her daughters visiting when my son was born. Who could forget her dog Thor whom my son just loved. My son still talks about him this day.  So nice and kind is why we still have fond memories and remenis.  In our prayers.

I am happy for the years I spent with Doris beginning in 1979.  We traveled to Italy to baptize her soon to be Godson Raffaele . She was so helpful and kind helping navigate the customs and language barriers that were present. Upon her arriving in the US we lived together for 8 years raising our children and working so hard in an industry we barely knew. But her upbeat personality and commitment to family was unsinkable. She loved and worked hard! She was there when I gave birth to my daughter Maria, born on her birthday and made me laugh through the labor pains! We got in trouble often because we were two sisters who enjoyed laughing so much! It was fun to not take life too serious. Years changed us a bit but the love remained respecting our positions in the Villella family.  Thank you for helping me through child rearing years and so much more! You were a rock. Rest in peace you did so good in this life!

Incominciavi ad avere qualche problema a camminare ma con l’aiuto della dolcissima Evelin, che ti spingeva su per le scale quando eri affaticata, siamo riusciti ad andare in giro per Roma e vedere le principali attrazioni.
Ricordo ancora lo stupore, la gioia e l’apprezzamento che esternavi quando incrociavamo un monumento, una piazza, una chiesa, un’opera d’arte ecc.

It was always a treat going to Zia’s. Christmas, picking cherries from the backyard, duck hunter, listening to the stories from each polaroid picture on the wall, sharing love and laughter are some of the fondest memories I’ve been lucky to share with Zia. She had the biggest yet most genuine heart and a smile that could light up the entire room. Thank you for the unconditional love. Until we meet again.

My godmother taught so much about being happy, and strrrrooong. She introduced me to Kinder chocolates, making bolognese and enjoying a drink with or without food. I admire her ability to listen and forgive instead of forget, while not taking things too seriously, being selfless, putting others paths in front of ones own, having healthy ego and pride, spreading love, yet brilliantly keeping a small circle, always generous and a incredible host-she was a pure attitude, awareness and authentic. She had two ears and one mouth - she wisely listened twice as much as she spoke. Never judgement. Never opinion. Never talked bad about others. Never repeated what others said. Always honest with a keen eye for facts. A positive reinforcer. Always a sweet beautiful heart and soul, with the best face, smile, laugh and hugs. We all have an opportunity to carry on her legacy in these ways and would make the world a much better place, as she did.

Have so many fun memories from Zia’s house when I was little. I send condolences to my cousins, you are in my thoughts and prayers. May Zia rest in peace. ❤️

My Dear Cousins,
Zia Doris  will always hold a special place in my heart.  She was my second Mom growing up. My Cool Mom.   All the special  memories will be cherished and there sure are a lot of them.

There are so many good memories of Dorie I don’t where to start but I guess I can start when I met her and my little cousins on my vacation to Italy in the summer of 1972 . From that point on I have had nothing but found memories and great times in her company . She will always be sadly missed and always in my heart .
