After he graduated high school he enlisted in the US Marine Corp. He served between 1942 and 1945 in WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He participated in battles on Tarawa, Gilbert Islands, Saipan and Tinian. Upon discharge, he attended UVM (University of Vermont) graduating with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
His career was in the aerospace industry working for Boeing in Seattle as a Procurement manager for 20 years and then recruited by Grumman Aerospace on Long Island in a similar role on the F-14 project. Once retired, he enjoyed selling his antique cameras and scientific equipment in a consortium of antique dealers. He moved to Lakehouse West Retirement Estates in Sarasota to be close to his daughters when he was 85 until his death. It was in that environment that his affable, outgoing personality came alive. He made good friends who became like family to him.
His wife of 42 years died at age 66 (Beverly). He is survived by his daughter, Dianne (Mike), daughter Judith, and son David (Sandra); and 3 grandchildren: Mike Weigel, Zachary and Olivia Poplawski and his loving significant other, Beverly MacDonald.
In his memory he would appreciate memorial contributions made to: Honor Flight, Inc., 1405 South Fern St. #702 Arlington, VA 22202
