Gerry was born on August 12, 1942, in Ceylon, Minnesota to Alvin & Helen Leiding. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School for grades 1-8, and graduated from Ceylon High School. He went on to work for, and retired from Winn Dixie Grocery Stores.
Gerry loved playing cards, gardening, and in his early years, bowling.
Gerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lonnie; and brother-in-law, Jerry Derosier.
He is survived by his wife, Katrina; children, Scott (Pam) Leiding, Tammy (Ruben) Otero, Suzette (Steven) Greene, Heather (Kenneth) Mangham, Desiree Leiding, and Robbie (Ashley) Leiding; grandchildren, Joe, Casey, Tony, Andy, Chrystal, Adalyn, Samuel, Ezra, Josiah, Berkley, and Seven; great-grandchildren, Dylen, Tyler, Kyle, Ayden, Ethan, Charlotte, Jasmine, Jaylah, Jaylen, Wade, Isaac, and Victoria; and siblings, Vicki Derosier, Ronnie (Jane) Leiding, Cheri Leiding, and Laneta (Terry) Nielsen.
A visitation for Gerry will be held Monday, April 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232, followed by a celebration of life at 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gerry's memory may be made to Ceylon Area Historical Society, P.O. Box 386, Ceylon, Minnesota 56121 US; and Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund in care of Katrina Leiding, 11491 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Douglasville, Georgia 30134 US.
