James was born in Danvers, Massachusetts on February 7, 1933. He graduated from Danvers High School and received a Certificate for Machinist from United Shoe. He was married to Lillyann V. O’Brien on November 30, 1996.
James worked at GTE and then taught drafting at Lawrence Regional Technical School. He was a member of VFW, American Legion, DAV and U.S. Air Force in Korea. James had a passion for fixing cars, and he was a jack of all trades.
James is survived by Susan DeLuca, James, Robert, many grandchildren, and his sister, Marie McLaughlin.
A committal service with military honors will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72 in Sarasota.
A reception will follow at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, located at 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL, 34232, on February 24, 2026, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
