John was a 1968 graduate of Riverview High School in Sarasota, and he served with the Fraternity Order of Eagles for 35 years.
Deep sea fishing was his passion.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy Butler, Sr. and Gladys Butler; and his infant son, John J. Butler.
He is survived by his wife, Dennice Butler; children, Stephen Butler and David Butler; grandchildren, Sean Butler and Ciara Butler; great-grandchild, Brayleigh Butler; and brothers, Rudy Butler and Larry Butler.
A private service for John will be held at a later date.
