He graduated from Mercersburg Academy and received a BS from Bard College in 1950; John served in the United States Army. John owned and operated the Queen Palm Nurseries in Sarasota for many years. He enjoyed pre-war trains, coin collecting, and was an avid swimmer.
John is survived by his son John Jr and wife Beth; daughter Betty and husband Paul; and five grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Rice, his loving wife Nancy and brother Livingston Rice
A graveside service for John will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232.
