Muriel R. Swartz, 90 of Venice, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. She was born on April 30, 1927 in Binghamton, NY to the late Leo and Molly (Shavlinksy) Rubin. She was a member of the Jewish Congregation of Venice, FL and a long-time member of Temple Sinai in Newington, CT where she served as Temple Sisterhood President and Temple Vice President. She was also active in Newington Republican and Town Politics, serving as secretary of the Republican Town Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Town Planning and Zoning Commission, and ran – unsuccessfully – for the Town Council in 1977. Survivors include her sons, Peter Swartz (Brenda) and Roger “Chip” Swartz (Marcia); daughter, Janet Watson (Norman); grandchildren, Grace Watson, Nicole Swartz, Benjamin Swartz, Matthew Swartz and Veronica Swartz; great-grandchildren, Xanica Rose and Kiefer Sandosky. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert and sister, Fern Ament. Muriel will be deeply missed and forever loved. Arrangements by Palms-Robarts Funeral Home.
