Randal was born in Muncie, Indiana to Larry Wright and Betty Cameron Wright. Randy spent his childhood in Cleves, Ohio. The family moved to Orlando, Florida in 1968, and Randy excelled at several sports at Winter Park High School. He attended Mercer College in Macon, Georgia and then transferred to University of Florida. He became a lifelong, diehard Gator fan. Randy moved back to Cincinnati to work for AT&T and spent most of his career as a Project Manager. Randy obtained his PMI Certification in 1994.
After he was transferred from Cincinnati to Atlanta by AT&T in 1985, he met Jan, and they were married on September 19, 1987. He was a beloved husband to Jan for 38 years and the love of her life. Besides being a loving husband, son, brother, and uncle, Randy was a trusted and devoted friend. If Randy met and liked you, he was your friend for life. His friends were not only here in the U.S. but also in England.
Randy was passionate about sports, especially the Reds, Bengals, Gators, NASCAR, and golf. For twenty plus years, he loved playing golf at the annual Cold Beer Open golf tournament in Myrtle Beach with many of his friends from around the country. Randy was a member of the American Legion for 23 years, both in Georgia and Florida. He was a former Sr. Vice Commander of the Sons of American Legion Post 29 in Marietta, Georgia.
Randy and Jan retired to Sarasota, Florida in 2022 to be closer to both of their families. They made many new friends here and enjoyed travel and cruises, trying out new seafood restaurants, and playing in the Euchre club.
Randy is survived by his wife Jan and siblings Kay Anness, Shelly Whidden (Bill), and Cindy Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Betty Cameron Wright and his sister Lisa Da Silva.
