

Richard was born April 4, 1940, in Battle Creek, Mich., to Bentley and Sadie Green Taylor.
He is survived by his daughter, Gail Yvonne Taylor Owen of Columbus, Ohio; son Trent (Shawna) Taylor of Palmetto, Fla.; son Bruce Taylor of Clio, Ala.; daughter Melissa Taylor; son Richard Rex Taylor Jr. of Kentucky; daughters Ashley and Brittany Taylor; granddaughters Taylor Owen, Audrey Owen and Nicole Taylor; great-granddaughter Freyja Littlefield; and sisters Karen Sue Phillips of Myakka City, Fla., and Sonja Brackin of Raleigh, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Frances Wilkes Taylor, sister Mary Ellen Rego and brother Andrew Jackson Taylor.
Richard graduated from Brocton High School, where he was active in many sports. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era and was stationed in Korea and Corpus Christi, Texas.
He was an accomplished auto body mechanic and known for his talented restorations of vintage cars.
He lived in various locations in Michigan, Illinois, Florida and California. He loved playing his guitar and often played in various bands as a hobby. He also loved genealogy research.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
