Mr. Shirley Lee Turner, III, formerly of Waverly, Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at home with his beloved wife and daughter by his side. Born December 5, 1962, to Shirley Lee Turner, Jr. and Mary Alice Turner, he was affectionately known as “Snuke” and “Junie”. A proud graduate of Sussex Central High School, he excelled both academically and athletically.
Shirley earned his MBA in Human Resources Management from St. Leo University and faithfully served in the United States Army Reserve and United States Air Force Reserve, retiring as a Sargeant after 21 years. He went on to build a distinguished career in talent acquisition and training leadership.
On June 16, 2001, he married the love of his life, Stacey Divers-Turner. He was a devoted husband and “Girl Dad,” cherishing every moment with is daughter, Sydney Leealani, his heart and joy. A man of deep Christian faith, he found peace and strength in his relationship with Christ.
Shirley will be remembered as a true gentleman – kind, encouraging, humble, and full of warmth and humor. He loved sports, travel, music, and time spent with family and friends, always turning friends into family and leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.
He is preceded in death by his father, Mr. Shirley Lee Turner, Jr.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Stacey Divers-Turneer, daughter, Sydney Leealani Turner, mother, Mary Alice Turner; in-laws, Bonnie Sue Divers and Alonzo Nelson Divers; brother, Lorenzo Turner; sisters, Arleen Dandridge (Harry) and Alice Spruill (Broderick); sisters-in-law, Operal Zabala (Shane) and Ashla Divers-Smith (Montrice); and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Though he is no longer with us, Shirley’s spirit and the memories he leaves behind will continue to inspire and comfort those who loved him.
