Vernelle was member of First Baptist Church on Main Street. for several decades volunteering, and traveling with her church family. She also loved sewing for her family and friends. She was a dedicated mother and a great cook.
She is survived by her sons Stanley (Stella), David (Linda), and Christopher (Beverly). Also, six grand children, several great grand children, and two sisters, Hazel and Margaret.
She is preceded in death by her parents Russell & Mary Johns, her husband Milton “Roger” Penney and her second son Gregory W. Penney Also, six brothers and one sister
Visitation will be held on January 29, 2021 from 9am to 10am at the Robert Toale & Son’s Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, Service to follow at 10am, Burial at the Sarasota Memorial Park Cemetery, 5833 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
