

Aaron Elliott James Sr. of Phoenix, Arizona went to be with our Heavenly Father on November 20, 2014. Aaron was born May 29, 1940 in Eunice, Louisiana. He graduated from Charles Drew High School, Grambling College (Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts), and Arizona State University (Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy). He was initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Grambling College. He met the love of his life, Rosemary McClendon, at Grambling College in 1962 and in 1965 committed himself to her in a marriage lasting 49 years. Aaron and Rosemary had two sons together. Their boys were raised in St. Matthew United Methodist Church where Aaron and Rosemary had been members for 34 years. Aaron retired from Mesa Community College in 2012, after 35 years of service to the Higher Education System of Arizona. Aaron enjoyed spending time with his family, going to sports activities and traveling around the world with his wife. He also loved exercising and was committed to keeping his body--his "temple"--in good shape and healthy to do God's work. He leaves behind to cherish his memory and rejoice in his homegoing: his wife, Rosemary McClendon James; two sons, Aaron Elliott James, Jr. and Gregory Alan James; Gregory's wife, Chin-Ying (Kitty) James; one brother, Eldridge James; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, Sims E. James, Sr. and Almatine D. James; his brothers Sims E. James, Jr. and Edmund James; aunts, uncles and other family members. Services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 2540 West Baseline Road, Mesa, AZ 85202: 10:00-11:00AM visitation; 11:00-NOON memorial service.
