I have only just learned of Ben’s passing and I am truly saddened by it.  I worked with Ben some ten years ago.  Ben always seemed happy, and if he was not, one would not have known it.  He was so pleasant, even when  the stress of our work was unkind to him.   He always told me about his home life in Costa Rica and shared beautiful videos of  Tabacon, and the rain forests there.  He was an impeccable dresser and was always picture perfect in his attire, from his hair to his shoes!  He attributed his good taste to the fact that his father was a tailer!  He  loved to play soccer and was out on the fields often.  He spoke lovingly about his home country, and never spoke ill words about anyone.   I remember that he worried that his Costa Rican bride would not be happy in America, because she would not be able to do her work as she did back home, and the isolation would be too terrible for her.  And it seems that it was.  But those many days of his love with her made him very happy.

He told me the story of the lazy boy in the hammock, whose father told him he should get up and go to college.  The boy asked why should he need  to go to college.  The father replied that he needed college so he could get a good job.  The boy asked why he needed a good job.  The father replied so that he could Retire and rest in a hammoc .  The son said he already was resting in a hammock!  

I really enjoyed knowing him.  Goodbye Ben.  I won’t forget you.
