Dear Barbara and Joe, I was so sorry to hear the news. I remember Bernard from years ago and a loss of a child is the worst loss of all. Your family is in my prayers. God bless.

It sounds like a cliche, but there aren't many people in the world like the Klute. He was smart, insanely funny, a master of his craft, and he had a circle of friends that never stopped growing.  He took his enthusiasm for sharks aroung the world, then brought it back to share with us. He was at the top of the Metro-Phoenix Poetry Slam scene for over 20 years, and his winning performance on July 14th at the Ghost Poetry Show set a standard that may be impossible to beat. I am very sad that he is gone, and feel priviledged to have known him for the last 22 years.

Bernard did twice as much living than most of us could hope to to do in twice as much time. I am a better person for having known and loved him. 

So sorry to heard this sad news. I had met your son several times in the early years of your marriage but knew little of him in later years. A loss of a child is the deepest lost.  My prayers are with you and your family.

I'm very sad to hear of The Klute's death. He was a fine poet and performer, and a great person. 

Bernard Schober is one of the most talented, generous, and inspiring people I have ever known.  Anyone who is wondering how one approach life should look to the way he did his. 

I don't know how many thousands of people The Klute made laugh over the years. Whatever the count is, he made an equal amount of people think. 


I first met Bernard (The Klute) at Shark Con in Florida. He performed slam poetry about sharks and it affected me in such a positive manner. I was able to talk to him after and really enjoyed getting to know him a little more. It was weeks after SharkCon that I reached out to him about the poem and he was so friendly and sent me a copy of it. 

I woke to the sad news of Bernard's passing. Sending him love and light as he goes off to bless a new dimension with his humor and genius. Much love to those he loved and loved him. May you find comfort in the memories you shared and the knowledge that not even death can stop love. 

I worked with Bernard way back with the Original Gangsters of HSI in Florida and Arizona.  He was funny and smart - always quick with a joke and so fun!  Sending love and comfort to the family.
