Betty was born in Flint, Michigan on March 6, 1932 to Jay and Nina (Whitman) Gibson. On March 17, 1952, she married the love of her life, Elmer (Al) Gilbert from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
Betty was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star Lodge in Mt. Morris, Michigan; she was also a ceramics teacher for a time, and a meticulous, perfectionist in rehabbing and remodeling homes for resale for her family business. However, her crowning glory and the most important aspect of her life was her family. Her devotion, love, nurturing and inspiration shine through in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to this day.
Betty is survived by her husband of 64 years, Elmer (Al) Gilbert, 4 children: Vicki Hemming, Wayne Gilbert, Warren Gilbert and Wendy Gilbert, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, as well as by her sister Helen Ball and her brother Wayne Gibson.
Our loving wife, mother, memaw, grandma and nana will be truly missed and always deeply loved.
