Cheryl Lynn Cloud, age 72, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully with Kay by her side on Friday, November 5, 2021. Cheryl was born on January 24, 1949, in Mesa, Arizona, and was a life-time native of the Valley. She spent most of her early life in the East Valley, attending Westwood High School where she graduated in 1967. After graduation, Cheryl worked in the family business where she successfully managed and oversaw day-to-day operations. Throughout her life, Cheryl was an avid softball player/coach, a Disney fanatic, and a Goofyaholic.
In the Spring of 1982, Cheryl met and married her life-long soulmate, Kay Switzer. They made their home in the Phoenix area and it was a gift to see how Cheryl adored, loved and cherished Kay. They enjoyed almost 40 wonderful years together, sharing their mutual love of animals, sports, and traveling. Cheryl was a favorite family member, teammate and friend to all of those whom she touched and blessed from having crossed life's paths with.
Cheryl is survived by her wife Kay Switzer; her father, Wallace Cloud; her brother Mark Cloud; her sister Tami Housh; and many other extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Soni Jean "Gigi" Murrieta; her brother Kevin Cloud; as well as Lona Ellsworth and Velva Cloud, her beloved grandparents.
All family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Cheryl which will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257, followed by a funeral and memorial celebration of life from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. ln honoring the memory of Cheryl, please wear your favorite Disney attire as well as being sensitive to others by wearing a mask.
In lieu of flowers, Kay requests that donations be made in Cheryl's name to St. Jude's, one of her favorite charities, or to a Bassett Hound charity of your choice.
