After graduating high school, Lana attended Oklahoma State University where she earned a bachelors degree in Child Development. She also met the love of her life there, Eldon Ray Hugo. Lana and Eldon married in June of 1962 and proceeded to have two girls, Tracy and Becky. Tragically, Eldon was taken from her in 1969 and she proceeded to raise her girls alone. She was an especially loving and affectionate mother.
Lana was known to be an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for loved ones, taking gourmet classes and running a catering business for a time. She also loved hiking, backpacking and just being outdoors, especially on the desert. Lana had a lifelong strong faith in God and lived her life according to Christian principles.
Later in life, Lana founded a nonprofit called The Widows Mite. Along with her colleagues, she raised money to resettle refugees from Africa and provide aid to the poor in Mexico. This was her life's work. She worked tirelessly to make other's lives better.
Lana is survived by her two daughters, Tracy Hugo Garvelink (Wendell) and Rebecca Ellen Arroyos (Tony); six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a sister, Susie Vaughn; a brother, Rusty Taylor; and dear friends too numerous to count.
