

Magdalene Keipp Goettl, 98, (homemaker, mother of 4, outdoors woman), died on November 29, 2012 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mag was born on June 10, 1914, in Mansfield, Ohio to Teresa and Tony Keipp. She grew up with five sisters and three brothers on a farm in Ohio. Magdalene was married to Gust Goettl (1910-2004) whom she met during their school years in a one room school house. They married on June 10, 1933 in Ohio, and later headed West and settled in Phoenix, Arizona. The couple had celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in June of 2004.
Mag enjoyed many years of traveling, fishing, hunting, golfing, and camping. She competed in golf tournaments, bowled in women's leagues and enjoyed spending the summers at their cabin in Pinetop, in the White Mountains. Mag and her husband were active members of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, and helped support the construction of the Christ Chapel. Mag will be deeply missed, and always remembered by her family and friends. Magdalene is preceded in death by her husband, Gust, daughter Loretta Leoni, and grandson, Jeff Odell. She is survived by daughters Janet Kelly of Phoenix, Ariz., Loraine Anderson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Joyce Angello of Cottonwood, Calif; her grandchildren, Bill Odell, Greg Odell, Scott Odell, Jim Kelly, Jay Kelly, Eric Leoni, and Paula Leoni; 11 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grand children. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 4th from 6-8 PM at Green Acres Morturary/Cemetary at 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale. Services will be held at Green Acres on Monday, November 5th at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow services.
