On April 17, 2014, Marie Louise Labrot Thurber joined her loving husband Delamere who died in 1976. Marie was born in Paris, France to her parents Henry & Marguerite Labrot January 13, 1922. She survived occupied France by escaping from a train under attack by jumping out the window while bullets ricocheted off the train car. She survived again by not sleeping under the same bridge as the night before, which was bombed that very evening by German forces. She met Del at the end of the War; they fell in love and got married in Paris. Her adventures took her to the shores of the U.S., across this country, to the frozen tundra of Alaska and finally settling in Phoenix in 1957. During their travels they brought forth five kids, Jean “Frank” (Fran), Dan (Linda), Dorene (Dory Pemberton), Duane (deceased 2013)(Kathy)), and Dale. The siblings brought forth 10 grandchildren (Tracy, Darin, Jack, Bob, Chad, Derrick, Jessica, Tom, Dusty, & Drew) and 11 great grandkids. From managing a store near Encanto Park, to working in a middle school, Marie always had a smile and a word of encouragement for those around her .She welcomed newcomers to the neighborhood with a plate of cookies or her famous cream puffs. Mom, we love you, but we are happy that you are with dad and Duane again. No public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends a memorial donation to the Alzheimer's Research Center or the Wounded Warrior project. Condolences may be posted on www.dignitymemorial.com.
