We lost our beloved mother, grandmother and best friend Marilyn Louise Wahl, loving and devoted daughter of Marie Kilian and stepfather, Peter Kilian on April 15, 2015 at the age of 87. Marilyn leaves behind two daughters, Christine Hackett (Jeff), Cynthia Tassielli (partner John Marshall) and two granddaughters, Nicole Tassielli and Danielle Tassielli. Her husband of over 57 years, Donald Wahl, predeceased her in 2008. Marilyn was born and raised in New York City but after marriage, travelled the country and the world with her husband, a career U.S. Air Force pilot. Marilyn bore up under all the moves and always made a good and loving home. The family made a permanent move to Phoenix, Arizona in 1970. Marilyn worked at her beloved Arizona State University for over 20 years, primarily working in the President’s Office. She made many good and long-lasting friendships at ASU as well as many wonderful memories. Some of her happiest times were spent at Scottsdale Fashion Square. Despite her illness, Marilyn stayed active at Sunrise Senior Living in Gilbert, Arizona and lived her motto, “Never give up.” Our family wishes to thank the entire staff of Sunrise for the dedication, care and love they extended to Mom. Hospice of the Valley provided exceptional care to Mom and our family at the end of her life. Her loss leaves great heartache for all of us who loved her but she is now at peace. Graveside services will be held at Green Aces Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org would be greatly appreciated.
