He was born on July 19, 1957, in Springfield, Ohio, to parents Theodore Cocca and Evelyn Ross. Mark moved to Arizona at the tender age of two and proudly considered himself a native of the state.
In Mark’s early years he played the drums and started a garage band that often played in the backyard. Mark had a 1955 Ford F100 Stepside truck that he spray painted green in the carport. Everyone around town recognized his truck for years.
During Mark's career’s in both Semi-conductor and Telecom Industries he met many lifelong friends and his wife Julie. He always enjoyed after work events with his coworkers. But his all-time favorite job was at Brook Tree in San Diego.
Retirement came easy for him. People would ask him what does he do in his retirement. His response every time was “I don’t go to work”. He really enjoyed going and looking at cars, driving by previous homes and neighborhoods. He always came home and would say “I like it here the best”.
He shared a wonderful life with his beloved wife, Julie Cocca, who was his constant companion and support for over 34 years. They were able to enjoy many years of retirement life together. They really enjoyed short destination lunch dates, dinner dates, and of course their happy hours together. Mark was very proud of his marriage and his life accomplishments.
Mark was not only an amazing husband but also a great brother to his siblings, he was a kind uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, fondly referred to them as the “little ones”. Each time he would see them he would give them money and would tell them to “be good”. Mark is leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness to many who knew him. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with all of them.
In his personal time, Mark had a passion for watching car shows and collected various things, watches, cameras, photos of places he lived, his cars, his homes.
Mark and Julie moved to Del Mar, CA in 1991 where he would say that his life in Del Mar, CA was the best time of his life and was happy to have had the opportunity to live there. Every Sunday after dinner he would drive his 1980 Corvette down to Torrey Pines Beach and sit and watch the ocean and would come home and say “that view won’t last forever”. In 1994 they moved back to Arizona and built a life in Ahwatukee (Phoenix) where he again made many more lifelong friends who he loved to meet up for lunches, dinners or happy hour.
Mark's life was guided by a heart of gold, and was always there for others, offering a dependable shoulder to lean on. He often shared a life lesson a dear friend of his told him that resonated with many: "You can't control everything that happens to you, ONLY you can control how you react to it."
Mark’s pragmatic approach was a strength in his personal and professional life. If you were struggling with a decision, Mark was your guy.
