OBITUARY

Mark Francis Mercier Jr.

23 January, 1944 – 6 August, 2020
IN THE CARE OF

Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery

Mark Francis Mercier Jr., 76, passed away on August 6, 2020. He was born on January 23, 1944 in Charlevoix, Michigan to Mark Sr. and Marion (Helen) Mercier. He will be sorely missed.

Mark was a veteran of the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and deployed to Grenada during his time in the service. He was married to his beloved wife Sherie who preceded him in death in July 2020.

Mark spent most of his life in Phoenix, Arizona but he always had a soft-spot for the great plains of Nebraska where much of his father’s family lived. In the later years, he and Sherie lived in Mayer, Arizona before returning to Phoenix in 2019. Mark had many canine and feline companions over the years that he loved dearly. He was a member of the American Legion in northern Arizona. He was a life-long fan of the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers and even had a Herbie pin on every hat he wore (and an Army pin too). He also loved his Arizona Cardinals football team and his Sunday NASCAR.

Mark leaves behind six children: David, Jennifer, Heather, Ian, Kristin and Cameron; many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many cousins across the country including Arizona, Nebraska and Texas. Mark was preceded in death by his loving parents Mark Sr. and Helen, his wonderful wife Sherie and his amazing son Jeffery.

He was greatly loved by his all family and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, Scottsdale in the Chapel at 11am with family visitation 1 hour before. His final resting place will be near his wife at St. Anthony’s Monastery in Florence, Arizona.
