Mary Mildred Goettl

Mary Mildred Goettl, born November 28, 1930 in Akron, OH, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on May 13, 2024. Born to Frank & Mary Staich, Mary was the matriarch of the family, spending her life caring for others. Raised in a Christian home, she encountered Jesus in a new way on the shores of Camp Canandaigua and made a personal decision to follow Him and began her journey of service to the Lord which was a life-long passion. She touched countless people in her life, encouraging them in their own faith journeys through her words, fervent prayers, and life-example.

She worked as a dental hygienist for 15 years and left the profession when she got married and started their family. She would say she found her true calling in being a mom to her three kids (and to all their friends and neighbors who walked through the doors of the Goettl home.) Whether she was supervising pool parties or hosting family gatherings, she shared her love through kind words, acts of service, and food! No one left the Goettl house hungry. Her fondest memories surrounded family vacations to San Diego – soaking in the sun or playing in the sand with her kids.

When she wasn’t doing all things related to motherhood, she was an avid gardener, lover of books and music, amazing cook, and an active volunteer – serving at her kids’ schools, working at a local food bank, and participating for over 25 years on the board of Trustees for the Glencroft Friendship Foundation, raising money to support residents in need.

She is survived by her children Todd Goettl, Kevin “Nick” Goettl, Kathy Berry (Spouse Mike), 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Rick, daughter-in-law Sheila, grandson Nicholas, and siblings Bobby, Carrie, and Annie.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, June 13 at 2:00 pm at CCV Midtown Campus, 2005 E. Indian School Road.
