Matt graduated from Wakefield High School and later received a Masters degree in Accounting from North Carolina State University. He had a successful career as a CPA and later founded his own company, Canopy Search Group, a financial services recruiting company.
Matt had many passions including herpetology, horticulture, travel and camping with his favorite people. He lived for the outdoors and loved to be in the rainforests of Central America, the open deserts of the West and climbing the peaks of mountains. He thrived on both the flora and fauna of the places he traveled throughout the world.
He is survived by his parents, Joe and Jane Kushy of Wake Forest, North Carolina as well as many aunts and uncles that he cherished.
