Michael was born on June 20, 1937, to Philip and Mollie Bloom, in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from Levittown Memorial High School in 1955, he went on to major in business at Adelphi where he played varsity baseball on full scholarship for four years. He ultimately obtained his master’s in education from the University of Arizona. He also studied at Columbia University and Arizona State University.
After finishing school, he worked for Washington and Scottsdale school districts where he taught 6th grade for 10 years before becoming the principal first at Supai and then at Pueblo Elementary School for an additional 8 years. Towards the end of his career in education he became more involved in real estate. He had a successful career as a real estate broker, developer, and investor for more than 40 years. In this time, he developed and built approximately 20 spec homes.
In January of 1977, he met Deanette, and they wed in December 1979. Michael had three children that he loved dearly, Jeff, Arlyn and Sabrina.
Michael was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, which he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Jeff, Arlyn, Sabrina and Deanette and always tried his best to support them.
Michael was also passionate about softball. Between playing in and running tournaments he always had ball on the mind. He was an all-star catcher in his younger years and could turn the fastest double play at second base you’d ever seen as a senior citizen.
Anyone who knew Michael knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Michael was predeceased by his father, Philip and mother, Mollie.
