

Philip D. Hawkins "Phil”, passed away at his home in Mesa, October 25, 2011 at the age of 66 with his wife, two sons and brother at his bedside. Born August 16, 1945 in Miles City, Montana. The family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1956. In part due to his Montana heritage, Phil took up the sport of Rodeo at a young age. During his early teens he participated in Junior and High School Rodeos in Arizona. At age 18, he became a member of the Rodeo Cowboys Association, participating throughout North America as a Bareback Bronc Rider. Later in life, he was an avid Team Roper. Alongside his mother and father, Lisle and Ruth, Phil and his brothers founded Green Acres Mortuaries and Cemetery and Pueblo Sereno Mobile Home Park, both in Scottsdale. Phil's love of rodeo continued throughout his life, serving two years as the President of the Arizona High School Rodeo Association. His generosity and commitment to the "Cowboy Way of Life" continues to inspire many young people to share that lifestyle. Phil is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, L.D. & Clay; daughter, Libby Christman; grandchildren, Kade, Karson and Kambria and brothers, Dave and Bill. Public visitation will be Friday, October 28th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ. Services will be conducted Saturday, October 29, 10:30 AM also at Green Acres. Dress code: Wranglers. In lieu of flowers, Phil has requested that donations be made to Susan B. Komen 3 day for the Cure and sent to 601 E. Lehi, Mesa, AZ 85203
