Kevin was a great friend and I miss him every day🙏🏻❤️

Hi papa, it’s been 2 & 1/2 months since you’ve been gone. I wish it would get easier but it’s quite the opposite. The more time passes, the more I miss you. I’ve tried to be tough, but just thinking about you brings tears to my eyes & a knot in my throat. So many things are coming up that, unfortunately, we won’t be able to celebrate together: your anniversary- today actually! It’s seems like just yesterday everyone was maxing out the bar tab at the wedding! That was such a great night. 
Halloween, Kai’s birthday, your birthday & thanksgiving are all coming up.  I will take a shot in your honor & I hope that they have alcohol up in heaven! I love you so much. 

Kevin was kind. Kevin was genuine. Kevin was a man of character. Kevin was special!
Kevin and I attended school together for 12 years, and shared so many fond memories throughout those years (far too many to list). Memories that I will cherish forever.  Aside from the silly antics we shared in high school such being kicked out of class for making a ruckus in the back of the classroom or goofing off while being teammates on the baseball diamond, Kev taught me the importance of having a sense of humor. The ability to laugh at oneself. To not take life too seriously. To lighten up, have some fun, go with the flow. Balance.
I recall walking the campus of CSUN in 86, feeling lost and alone. When suddenly, unexpectedly, big K shows up with another great friend, Lou (now Dr. Serna) to pay me a visit. Their visit meant the world to this 18 year old kid. Their presence was invaluable. Fast forward 2 years later and I am attending San Diego State. Again, feeling alone and away from L.A. for the first time, Kev and Lou drove from SM to SD on a whim to visit. Again, meant the world. 
His jovial spirit was precious and contagious, genuine and comforting.  Sure, there are so many other memories and they will remain in my soul forever.  
Kevin was respectful. Kevin was humble. Kevin was the real deal. RIP, big K! Thanks a ton for sharing your light with the world.

Kevin was my beautiful loving little brother. His heart was so big. He loved his family deeply. I am so grateful for the time I spent with him. I am so proud of the man he became. 

I will miss you my dear, sweet hermanito. Your big smile, your big ole’ bear hugs and your calls every week to check on me. I know that Mom, Dad, Raymond and Patricia are holding on to you tight with all their love. Rest in piece, Kevin. I’ll see you when I see you.


Kevin, what can I say about a good man gone way too soon, to a stupid illness that came out of the blue. Kevin was many things to me. He was a long time school mate,  partner in crime, singing buddy, a brother, and most importantly my best friend (my "friend to friend" as we would say). Kevin and I met back in grade school and continued our friendship until his last day with us. It was in the 80's when Kevin and I became really tight. He was always by my side whenever I needed him. My wedding, the birth of my kids, and even late hospital visits where the nurses would try to kick him out for staying after visiting hours. They never succeded though, Kevin knew just how to use his charm to stay later than allowed! Our relationship was unique. It was always positive, full of fun, laughter, some sadness, but most of all: lots of love. Kevin never excluded my family. He loved my wife Lori (his cuca), my kids Jules and Jaiden, and most importantly his Goddog Bo. There have always been many stories told about Kevin throughout the years in our family. He was a BIG part of our houshold and will continue to be forever.  I remember all of the fun Vegas trips, ball games, and numerous happy hour visits we shared together. Kevin was a great listener, role model, mentor, and always knew right from wrong. Music was such a big part of Kevin! My daughter always thinks of him singing the background vocals to "Killing Me Softly" by Lauryn Hill. When I hear Huey Lewis "Bad is Bad" and Sinatra's "Strangers in the Night", I will always know you are with me laughing, singing, and doing those contagious dance moves.  Nobody will ever replace the friendship we had. You will always be my best friend, my buddy, my pal, and my true brother. I am so glad to have seen you so genuinely happy in life before this tradgedy. Kevin, until we meet again and when we do, I know you will have that big, Chevy Chase look and that laugh that I will never forget.I will always love you & miss you buddy ~ Al

I could always count on Kev to crack a joke, make a silly face, or say something so stupid just to make me laugh ! 

In my book you were the best travel buddy, coffee maker, handy man. Thank you for all the times you showed up for me. You were the standard.

Kevin was a great friend who was always there when you needed him.  He put smiles on all our faces.  He filled rooms with joy and laughter.  We were virtually inseparable in elementary and high school. He was the life of the party,  and always seemed to steal show, even when he wasn't trying too ( and his dance moves were contagious and got everyone going). He was my best man at my wedding and a dear friend to all.  I was so lucky to have known you and you will be greatly missed. May you rest in peace, my best friend.  Love you and thank you for all the amazing memories! Thoughts & prayers from my family to yours. 

I meet Kevin through Patty, she is like a sister to me.  Kevin was a gift from God to Patty and the kids ; He treated them with outmost respect and love. He was the piece that was missing in their lives. It’s hard to believe and accept such a good man is not among us anymore, the world needs more people like him! I’m happy I got to meet him and learn from his good example. You’ll be remembered and missed Kevin.  

My papa, you were the father I always wished for. You took me in as your own. You, so effortlessly, shared so much love & wisdom. It never felt forced or phony. Without having to ask, you helped me get my first car &  job in Phoenix. I felt so ashamed any time I let you down because I only ever wanted to make you proud. I will forever carry your confidence with me! You will be missed dearly. And I will remind Kai, when he’s older, what a great man his Papa was! You gave us enough love to last a lifetime, and I’m so grateful. Till we meet again. ❤️

Anyone who had ever met Kevin couldn't deny he had great energy and appeal. He was the type of person that would light up a room with his presence. So much so that the room seemed dull until he showed up with his great big smile and his spot on humor. For the past 10 years we've watched Kevin grow into this amazing man. It hadn't been easy for him, he lost his Mom Mary, his brother Raymond, his Father Raul "Rudy" and his sister Patrica "Pitty Pat". During this difficult time Kevin met Patty and she became the love of his life. Kevin and Patty's love for each other was true, a relationship to aspire to. They married five years ago and her kids became his kids and they adored him as he did them. Kevin was the happiest we've ever seen him. Kevin was a gentle giant, he made you feel safe and loved. He was a great big teddy bear with a great big heart, who loved his family and worked hard for them.  My dear Kevin you will be dearly missed forever and always. The beautiful memories of the good times you shared with all of us will always speak of the great person that you were. Rest well my dear cousin.

Kevin was the youngest of six siblings, and was he loved by all! He had it all, looks, personality and many friends. All the Romero brothers were considered handsome, but he was the handsomest of the bunch with his full head of black hair, and brown, sparkling eyes. Kevin loved sports whether he was playing football, baseball or golf, or just on the couch watching his Dodgers with Ray, and our  dad. Kevin landed his first part-time job at sixteen years of age. He would transport guests to and from the Santa Monica hotel where he worked on the weekends to LAX to pick them up from the airport. He thought it was so neat to be driving a van to pick up people and getting paid for it. Tips were the icing on the cake. 
Kevin had a way of making you feel special. He would flash his big, old smile at you, and you would think that smile was only for you. He will forever be missed!
My condolences to his wife Patti and their family. The Earth seems a bit out of balance without Kevin.
