My family and I are neighbors of Rodney and his wife. I can' recall when we first started talking to him, but I believe it was when he saw me out walking with my mother, or out on our patio. Sometime within the last 1 1/2 years. Reading all these lovely tributes makes me smile as it is just how we knew Rodney. He went out of his way to be a good neighbor and friend, He was kind, gentle, caring,  and funny, He always took it upon himself to look out for my mom, especially when he heard she had broken her hip 6 months ago. We had many chats in the parking lot as he was returning from taking his wife to work, or going to the store, As caring as he was, we knew he also was fragile, having fallen a couple times so we also looked out for HIM! He was always asking my mom and my husband if they wanted him to bake them a cake! :) He did one time and it was a delicious bundt cake. He talked to our daughter about her education and employment opportunities as she is in a doctorate Clinical Psychology program. We were heartbroken to hear of his passing and truly miss him! Rest in Peace.  Arizona has lost a long time resident and we've lost a long time brother-in-law.

Rodney was truly a wonderful man.  Every time that he came around he always talked to you.  He always made me smile with his comments.  He will be missed.  Now he can play golf with the Angels and teach them a few things.  He will be missed, Rest in Peace, Rodney!!

Rodney was truly a special person who will be missed by so many people.  He always put a smile not only on your face, but also in your heart.  Rest in Peace ~ and may God bless Jennifer and all of your family with wonderful memories of their times with you.

Rodney was truly a good friend and a real neighbor.   We'll miss him dearly.   His light will shine forever in all our hearts.

Jennifer, Rodney was truly one of the most genuine people that I have ever met. Rodney was always looking out for me. That's just how wonderful of a person he was. I am grateful and truly blessed to have known him and to have met you both. I am truly sorry for your loss. He will be sorely missed.

To Mrs. Smith and family. I received a voicemail today informing me of your husband and father's death. We have known the Smith family for over fifty years. His dad was my Boy Scout leader and one of my daughters is named after his sister Marcia who is my wife's best friend. I regret you are receiving this message so late but I hope it can be shared with the family to let you know the love we have for Rodney.  My wife and I have been stricken with Bronchitis and with Pneumonia. But I hope the service both in Arizona and here in Detroit resonates the kind and gentle spirit that your husband and father had. We will be praying for your strength in the days, weeks and years to come.

I work with Rodney's wife, Jennifer.  Occasionally, Rodney would stop in at work.  He was always smiling and happy.  It was a pleasure to talk with Rodney.  His loss will be felt by many people.  My condolences to Jennifer and the Smith Family.

I went to HPHS with Rodney and Christine.  Rodney always had on an argyle sweater with a button up shirt. very courteous and polite. full of stories. RIP

Rodney was a kind, courteous and caring person.  He always asked how friends or family were doing.  He never seemed to complain about his condition, he kept moving. We've known Rodney since 1990 and we've been friends until he left this earth.  His transition will affect many people who loved and cared for him.

We met Rodney in 1990.  We have been friends until the end of his earthly life. Rodney was a strong person who lived his life and never complained to us about his condition. He kept moving.  He was considerate, polite and kind, always asking about friends and family who he may not have seen for a long time. He will be missed.  Paulette, Danny and Nichet Smith

It's nearly impossible to describe what Rodney meant to me. He taught me a lot over the years and was an absolute joy to be around. 

Rodney introduced himself in the summer of 92, at our old favorite spot, "92nd St. Cafe",  in Scottsdale--we have been great friends ever since. I could always count on him for nearly anything because he was caring, intelligent, and honest. Rodney was real, and loved by many. 

I thank you for your friendship. You will be missed and I'll never forget all of our time together. Rest in peace, Dr. Rod.

I WORKED WITH RODNEY IN HIGHLAND PARK, MICH.  I ALWAYS ENJOYED KNOWING HIM.  HE WAS A WARM AND FRIENDLY PERSON.  I WILL NEVER FORGET HIS SMILE.  MAY HE REST PEACEFULLY IN THE ARMS OF THE LORD.  PRAYERS FOR THE FAMILY.
