Virginia Lovell High, 90, was called home by the Lord on February 8, 2024. Ginny was born in Monticello, Kentucky on February 7, 1934. The second oldest of five children to Robert and Jessie Lovell. She is survived by her brothers Gene Lovell and Tommy Lovell and preceded in death by her brother James Lovell and her sister Geraldine Lovell Guffey. Ginny was married to the love of her life, Paul S High, on July 25, 1953, at Covington First Methodist Church. When Ginny was twenty-three years old, Paul led her to the Lord. After watching Paul, she knew she needed what he had. He was an outstanding witness of God’s love. So, on December 13, 1956, Ginny became a born-again Christian. The two moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 1957 and lived there until 1966 when they moved their family to Tempe, Arizona. Ginny and Paul were very involved in the local church. They spent many years serving at Tri-City Baptist Church in Tempe and most recently at Desert Gateway Baptist Church in Gilbert, AZ. Ginny was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Paul S High. She remarried in January of 2019 and is survived by her second husband Darrell May, his two daughters, and his two grandsons.
Ginny lived a full life focused on honoring God, loving her family, and giving to others. Ginny and Paul were gifted three children by the Lord. Preceded in death by her oldest child Lynda Sue High Brown and her husband Edward Ray Brown, and survived by her son Paul Michael High, his wife Debbie Mustain High, and son Larry Dean High. Her children were not her only blessing. Ginny loved and was grateful for her twelve grandchildren who called her Mamaw. Mamaw is survived by her grandkids James (Amanda) Brown, Paul (Tricia) Brown, Shelly Henning, Charity Brown, Tommy (Lindsay) High, Jimmy High, Rebekah (Justin) Howe, Susannah (Jimmy) Dornan, Tina Denny, Sammy (Molly) High, Rocky (Tianna) High, and preceded in death by her grandson Billy Thornton. Added to the great blessing of twelve grandchildren were her eighteen great grandchildren, who she loved to spoil. Her “Joybaby” Jaelyn, Cason, Kallei, Lara, Junior, Teagan, Lance, Kayla, Dillon, Levi, Aiden, Landon, Henry, Jane, Clara, Oliver, Malachi, and Orion. Today, Ginny is at home with her Lord, Paul, many family members, and friends. They are waiting for each of us that know the goodness and love of our wonderful Savior.
