

William “Bill” James Curry, 72, of Tempe, AZ passed away on December 24, 2014 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease while at home and in hospice care. He was born in Lower South Hampton Township, PA on January 8, 1942. He served in the US Army for a year and a half before receiving a hardship discharge after his father’s premature death. Bill was transferred to Arizona by U-Haul International (Amerco) in 1967 and he loved desert living. During his 30 years with U-Haul he held many positions, his favorite being manager of the Research & Development Department at the U-Haul Tech Center. One of his proudest accomplishments was the receipt of a patent for a truck ramp storage system while running that department. He was a member of Scottsdale Masonic Lodge #43 and El Zaribah Shriners. Before declining health prevented it, he loved traveling, golfing, bowling and dancing. Bill is survived by his loving family - wife Linda, daughters Patti Curry BeDillon (Brian), Colleen Howe (Russ), 5 grandchildren - Heather BeDillon (Josh Long), Erika Billingsley (Matt), Nikki BeDillon, Crystal and George “Rusty” Howe - brothers Jim Curry (Joan) and John Curry (Nancy), and sister Sally Barats. He was predeceased by his father and mother, James William and Anna Curry and his younger sister Mary Ann. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to El Zaribah Shrine Transportation Fund, 552 N 40th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008. The funds are used to transport patients and a family member to and from Shriners Children’s Hospitals and clinics.
