William Allen Conover

September 1, 1935 – June 19, 2024

William A. Conover “Bill” peacefully passed away the morning of June 19, 2024 in the comfort of his home in Gilbert, AZ. He was born on September 1, 1935 to the late Harold and Mary (Burris) Conover in Springfield, Ohio. In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by his first wife Connie Conover (Sheets) and his brother, Roger Conover. He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 29 years, Linda Conover; children: son Brad Conover (Julie), daughter Beth Thompson (Troy), stepsons Kevin Strand (Louise), Michael Strand (Eve), Mark Strand (Andrea), 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Bill attended Ohio State University for one year with an interest in pre-veterinarian medicine but decided to leave and pursue opportunities in the construction industry. In 1959 Bill moved to Arizona from Ohio with his wife Connie. After 3 years of study, he received a diploma as a journeyman operating engineer from the first Arizona Operating Engineers Apprentice Program. Bill spent the next 17 years working for Isbell Construction Co. and two Caterpillar Dealerships, Darr Equipment Co. in Dallas, Texas and Empire Machinery Co. in Mesa, Arizona. In 1979 Bill became an owner in Branco Machinery Company which provides parts and service to heavy equipment contractors in the construction and mining industry. The business is now in its 45th year of operation with involvement by his children and grandchildren.

Bill leaves a legacy of his love for his family, always enjoying the time he was able to spend with them. In his spare time Bill enjoyed many outdoor activities like hunting, jeeping, boating, and traveling the country looking for John Deere tractors to add to his collection. Bill’s faith in Christ was evident in all he did, and he desired to honor God with his life. Bill was an inspiration to many and with his outgoing personality and care for others he enjoyed lifelong friendships.
