Dean was born March 5, 1938 in Jefferson City, Missouri to David Lester and Luella Ann (Stallings) Froerer.
He attended the University of Missouri and received his Master of Science in Civil Engineering. He met and married his wife Carolyn Ruth Perry on September 1, 1962. They relocated to Seattle, Washington where Dean attended the University of Washington earning his Candidate of Philosophy.
He had a long and distinguished career as a professional engineer working at engineering firms in both Washington and Alaska. The latter part of his career was spent working for the Boeing Corporation as a structural engineer. He retired and returned to Boeing as a contract employee, retiring for the second and final time in 2012.
After relocating to Seattle, Dean and Carolyn fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and knew it would be their forever home. They spent many weekends hiking at Mt. Rainier before raising two daughters, Nancy Lynn Froerer and Sharon Deann (Froerer) Loesch.
Dean was an avid birder and maintained 18 bird feeders at his Lake Forest Park home. He enjoyed hiking, nature walks, shooting sports, and traveling to the Oregon and Washington coasts. He loved dark chocolate and all things cherry. Dean was content reading the newspaper or watching a sporting event with a cat on his lap. He was especially fond of his only grandchild, Markus Dean Loesch.
Dean was preceded in death by both his parents and sister Virginia Ann (Froerer) Renken.
Dean will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, two daughters, son-in-law Niclas Emil Loesch, and grandson.
