Don was born March 3, 1950, and grew up in Alliance, Ohio. His life was too short to many who knew him, but those who were touched by him enjoyed his unique sense of humour and his genuine lovability of life. Don had an inner joy that few possessed. His greatest joy was his family.
Don’s passion in life beyond his family was his love of flight. He was an experienced hang glider pilot and began flying in 1975. Don’s most memorable flight was the time that he actually flew side by side with a bald eagle. Flying was the ultimate sense of freedom to Don.
He was also an exceptional wood craftsman. Don spent many years perfecting a beautiful home for his family. His craftsmanship was precise and exceptional and had endless creative ideas. He always put a great deal of care and thought into what ever he did.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Shyla, of 21 years of beautiful marriage, and two sons Justin and Zachary; three brothers and their spouses; Gene and Carol Miller of Texas, Dennis and Jennifer Miller of Connecticut and Ron and Linda Miller of Ohio. Brother-in-laws Allen and Mark Pitt of Washington, father and mother-in-law Bob and Patti Pitt of Washington, as well as fifteen nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul E. Miller and his mother Alice A. Miller.
Although faced with the fight of his life, Don spent his final days loving his family, sharing smiles and cracking jokes all the way to the end. His positive attitude truly astonished us all. It was an ideal way of living that we could all learn from. Rest in peace our cherished husband, father, brother and friend, you will always be missed and never be forgotten.
