Dot was born on September 25, 1991 in Kirkland, WA to Ted and Cathy Christensen. Her twin sister, Sarah Ruth, did not survive. In 1997 her sister Emma joined the family. After being diagnosed with cerebral palsy, Dot attended Boyer Children’s Clinic, Wonderland Development Center and Sorenson Early Childhood Center. She also attended Woodmoor Elementary, Northshore Junior High and Inglemoor High School where she graduated in 2010. She went on to attend Pathways Adult Transition Program where she acquired skills as a preschool teacher’s assistant.
In 2015 Dot moved into an independent adult family home through Provail. She quickly grew to love her new home, and considered her roommates and caregivers her family. She took classes through Seattle Parks and Recreation Specialized Programs, and Provail. More recently she volunteered as an assistant teacher and storyteller at a local preschool.
In her nearly 25 years Dot left a huge impression on those who knew her. She had an amazing smile, wicked sense of humor and a stubbornness that would be to her advantage on nearly every occasion. She loved her family deeply, considering them her most favorite thing in the world. She loved watching, singing and dancing to The Wiggles, and she loved to play board games.
Dot was preceded in death by her twin sister, Sarah Ruth. She is survived by her parents, Ted and Cathy Christensen; sister Emma Christensen; grandparents Deanna and Gordon Pogue; aunt Julie and uncle Ken Barnes; aunt Cathy and uncle Rich Cabral; uncle Greg Pogue; uncle Tim Christensen and various cousins.
