Douglas Lee Nibarger

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father Douglas Lee Nibarger, who passed away on November 21, 2023.

Doug was predeceased by his parents Lester and J. Dolores Nibarger. He is survived by his son, Erik Nibarger (wife Pia Nibarger), Daughter, Angie Rice (husband Scooner Rice) and granddaughters Kelsi Dettman and Jhia Valentin.

Dad enjoyed many different experiences throughout his full life.

During college at Western Washington State in 1960-1963, Dad worked for Boeing in pre-production, assembly, and testing of missile ground support equipment. He was drafted into the Army in 1966 and served in the Infantry Human Research unit as a Personnel Psychology Specialist. He was published in the 1967 issue of “Perceptual and Motor Skills”.

Dad was an entrepreneur of many businesses throughout his life including service stations, truck rental and automotive repair. His hobbies included anything related to boating and cars.

In his later years, he retired from the US Postal Service as a rural carrier in Bellingham, Wa.

No services will take place, as Dad requested. We will be scattering Dad’s ashes in one of his favorite spots, Deception Pass State Park on Whidbey Island, Wa.

Our family is grateful to know that Dad is finally at peace. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
