

Drexel Wayne Gault, 88, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, WA. Drexel was born September 24, 1924 to Sydney Johnson Gault Jr. and Mamie Lee Garner in Cherokee County, South Carolina, one of 5 children. Drexel served in the Army Air Corps in WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the 90th Bomb Squad, 400th squadron and is a recipient of the Purple Heart. He met his beautiful bride, Mary Chertok after the war and they married in 1949 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He graduated from Woffard College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Drexel began a long career in the oil industry as a pipeline dispatcher for Shell, Gulf and then Chevron transferring to Houston in 1971. He lived in Shenandoah, Texas for 32 years where he retired and then moved to Bothell, Washington in 2003. Drexel loved to spend time with his family, friends and his loving canine companions Boy and Jaques. Drexel is survived by his daughters, Leslie Gault and Lori Jorna; grandchildren, Layla Barnett, Dustin and Daniel Henry, Lara McBride, Johan, Zoë, and Marijke Jorna; great grandchildren, Carly, Hannah, Emily, Hailey and Jesse Barnett; Jeffrey, Alissa, Jonathan, Garret, Danielle, Kayla, Corbin Henry; Sidney McBride; special children Ashley and Talmadge Fogg; and sister in-law Francis B Gault. Drexel was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary and brothers Doran, Dawin, Jay and sister Anita. Drexel will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his warm heart, kind spirit, and gentle soul and sweet tooth. Drexel will be cremated at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Seattle, WA without ceremony. A service with Air Force Honors will be held on Monday, March 25th at 11am at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. The family will greet friends immediately following the ceremony.
